In Weekly Review - LYF Smartphone review, price , list & much more

Everyone wants a smartphone with good features, techniques & low cost. This week, Reliance Retail has entered the Android smartphone market with a bunch of products, including the LYF Flame 1 at Rs.6,699 , LYF Wind 6 at Rs.7,499 and LYF Water 1 at Rs.17,399. What we are testing here will tell you shortly, the most expensive of them all—Earth 1, priced at Rs.25,800, is now on sale.

1.      Design
First of all, the Earth 1’s aluminium alloy doesn’t reveal much, during a closer look reveals a bunch of fine design aspects that make it useful. On the back is the glass layer, which is something very similar to what Sony and Samsung do with their expensive phones.

This is perhaps the most diverse competition we have seen in a long time in this price range. Whether the OnePlus 2 has the advantage is the notification toggle on the left spine which lets you turn off alerts quickly without having to turn on the screen or unlock the home screen. You can slide down the quick settings from the notification bar, from where you can turn on the “Do Not Disturb” mode.
2.      Display
The 5.5-inch display has a panel which is nearly common in smartphones. The advantages include good contrast, good brightness, good visibility in sunlight and rich colors. However, this display should work well for media consumption as well. The resolution of the Earth 1’s screen is Full HD (1,920X1,080 pixels), which is good with phones in this price bracket. This is close between the three, the OnePlus 2 (Rs. 24,999) and the YU Yutopia (Rs. 24,999) use the IPS LCD panels. However, the Yutopia still has the advantage on the specification sheet thanks to the higher 2,560x1,440p resolution on its 5.2-inch screen. However, we must clarify that for most users, a Full HD resolution will be more than adequate for almost all tasks.

3.      Performance
The Earth 1 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, with 3 GB RAM. That is quite enough power for even the most serious multitaskers, where you can pretty much run a dozen apps in the background. The Earth 1 does not heat up as much as some other smartphones running the same processor tend to like. The battery from the 3,500 mAh pack still lasts one day .Rather than the OnePlus 2 and the YU Yutopia both run much more powerful processors having different variants of the Qualcomm processors, with 4 GB RAM. But, both phones suffer from heating issues.
4.      Camera
It has dual cameras on the back panel, the 13-megapixel one clicks a color photo, while the 2-megapixel one clicks a black and white photo at the same time. From the test shots in various lighting scenes, the performance is quite impressive. Good-light photos capture a good amount of detail and color, and you can zoom in quite a bit. Lowlighting performance depends more on the camera angle, source of light and its positioning. Actually the Earth 1 largely does well in terms of giving photos
5.      Network capabilities
The unique & main point of the Earth 1 is the fact that it will be able to use certain capabilities of the incoming Reliance Jio 4G mobile networks. One of them is the VoLTE feature, which is short for voice over LTE. This will allow high-definition video and voice calls, conference calls and one-tap switch from a voice call to a video call. There are whole bunch of messaging, health apps preloaded on this phone, which Reliance hopes will become a solid ecosystem in Smartphones.
