Here are some facts about Octopus:
- Octopuses are the interesting sea creatures. Octopus is a Greek word which means Eight- Footed.
- Their blood color is Blue & they have 3 hearts. Two of the hearts circulates blood through all over the body & the third one is known as organ heart which stops when the octopus swims.
- Octopuses are invertebrates, which mean they don’t have bones in their body.
- Octopus arms have a respective mind of their own. The arms can react even they have been separated from body.
- Octopuses will eject dark ink that will harm the predators and give them a chance to escape. Ink contains a compound named as tyrosinase, which can cause a blinding irritation to the person.
- Mating & parenthood are main concern for octopuses. Few months after mating, male octopuses will die, but female octopuses will do for three months of hatching as she will not have to eat during this period. She will die of starvation.
- Octopuses have highly developed nervous system, so doctors believed to use anesthesia during operation or before surgery.
- Studies have shown that octopuses learn easily, mainly by observation of another octopus.
